A 14 floor office development in the City of London

The design of this City of London office building, developed by Robin Partington Architects, includes external aluminium fins that provide shading and a distinctive appearance.

The large curved glass apexes of the building will give stunning views of St. Paul’s, but present challenges for manufacture and installation. The glass size has been carefully set to be the maximum that can be economically produced and has been developed along with a detailed sampling process to allow these to be successfully delivered.

The unitised curtain walling has concealed stack joints and hidden mullion joints at the spandrel zone to give a more homogenous appearance. The system is also required to achieve demanding u-value performances. This necessitates careful detailing to ensure the movements and tolerances can be accommodated, whilst maintaining thermal performances throughout.

Interface provided facade engineering services to Land Securities, including the facade performance specification and support through the tender process. Our role continued with Skanska UK Plc, the main contractor, through the contractor design periods and on to manufacture and installation. Completion was in 2016.
